Frequently asked questions and their answers
Staining of the coat
Most questions that I receive are about how to keep the coat free from tear
staining around the eyes, and staining of the hairs around the mouth. The best remedy is to
wash your dog's face daily with baby shampoo, make sure you thouroughly rinse the shampoo out
of the coat. The result will show after a couple of months, because the already stained hairs
first have to grow out. You cannot clean already stained hairs. If daily washing of your dog's
face does not help, he has a coat structure that easily gets stained and you can do nothing
about it. Not all Bichon Frise dogs have the same coat structure, some coats are more sensitive
for staining than others.
House training your puppy
Until the age of 4 months you cannot expect too much from your puppy, but
don't give up the house training, as you will notice that suddenly your pup will understand! This
only happens, if you trained him from the first day that you got him. The best way to train your
pup is buying him a Vari Kennel, as he has to sleep a lot anyway, until he is about 7 months old.
Let your puppy sleep in the Vari Kennel and get him out after about 3 hours, to let him do his
business. Afterwards you can let him play for maximal 20 minutes, otherwise the joints of his legs will
get permanently damaged. Put him in the Vari Kennel again and let him sleep for about 3 hours. Soon
you will notice, that the pup keeps his Kennel clean, that is the first sign of being house trained!
Where to buy a puppy
If you are looking for a healthy, good quality pup that meets the breed description of the Bichon
Frise, I advise you to purchase your precious pup in an official kennel or by the national
Bichon Frise Breed Club in your country.
