Happy Easter 2009 from Bichon Iris!

About Easter and the Easter bunny!

In Christian countries Easter is yearly celebrated in memory of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter takes place on the first Sunday following the full moon that occurs on or following 21st March. So, Easter is not celebrated on the same date every year.

From origin Easter is a pagan festivity. The Easter rabbit is a pagan symbol of fertility, and the colored easter eggs, originally painted with bright colors, represent the sunlight of Spring.

The Easter week begins with Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday takes its name from Jesus's triumphal entry into Jerusalem where the people laid palms at his feet. Holy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper, which was held the evening before the crucifixion of Jesus. The next day, Holy Friday, is the anniversary of the crucifixion, the day that Jesus died on the cross. Easter is the Sunday following Holy Friday and the day of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Iris loved to receive Holiday Cards, I used to print them out for her and hang them on the wall above her basket at her favorite spot in our home. You can send your homemade Holiday Card to my little Angel Iris by clicking the button below. The nicest Cards I will post on this page, as memories for her.
